Shooting Sport Looks Ahead to Los Angeles 2028
With two years remaining until the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, the international shooting sport community is entering the final stage of the journey to the world’s biggest sporting event. The race for Olympic quota places will begin later this year at the ISSF World Championships Doha 2026.
At LA28, shooting sport will feature 15 Olympic medal events across the Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun disciplines. Over the next two years, ISSF World Cups and Continental Championships will provide athletes with crucial opportunities to qualify for the Olympic Games.
In recent years, the ISSF has introduced major initiatives to modernize competition presentation, improve broadcast production, expand digital communication and strengthen engagement with shooting sport fans worldwide.
The ISSF World Championships Doha 2026 will award the first Olympic quota places for LA28, followed by additional qualification opportunities at ISSF World Cups and Continental Championships throughout 2027 and 2028.
The next two years will be decisive for the world’s best shooters, with every competition bringing them one step closer to competing at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
